Acts 1:8 (NLT)

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

World Missions and Evangelism are an important focus to the Journey Ministry! God has blessed us to develop special friendships and relationships with many pastors and organizations from around the world. We are thankful for every opportunity that we've been given to help encourage and strengthen our brothers and sisters in Christ. We have been blessed to be a small part of Acts 1:8 through ministry work in the Philippines, Tanzania, Uganda, Mauritius, Rodrigues and India for over 17 years.

PAST MISSION FOCUSES

Harvesters Bible Academy, Candon, Ilocos Sur, Philippines

Harvesters These students leave their homes and families, often traveling long distances, to join the Bible College where they live for four years. Most of them come from very impoverished areas and families that cannot afford to support them in any way. They live in dorms that the Bible Academy provides for them but they have very little money for food and supplies. They are without luxuries, and many times, are without necessities. After graduation, they are sent out into the community where they will spend the rest of their lives spreading the Gospel.

The young women at Harvesters are not only expected to excel in academic achievement but are expected to complete daily chores as well. Their schedule begins at 6 AM and often doesn't end until 9 PM. Here they can be seen cleaning up after the evening meal.

New Life Alliance Church, Women's Bible College Students. Manila, Philippines

Pastor Vern Compas started a church plant several years ago in a very depressed and poor section of Manila, Philippines. His goal was to bring the love of Christ to an area where people didn't have much hope. These people merely existed and didn't feel that there was a chance that they could have something better. They had no extended family to help them with college or specialized training, so in their minds, they were destined to peddle a few cheap trinkets or some other mediocre item on the street. They could spend all day peddling and still not have enough to buy a little rice to feed their family. It's unbelievable to see the amount of time and effort that the poor people in the Philippines exert just to exist. The Bible tells us, though, that Jesus came to give life and life in abundance! John 10:10

With the church plant, Pastor Compas has shared and taught the Word of God to the people in this area. The church is growing, many have accepted Christ and are believing for this life in abundance through Him. The church has taught trades and skills to the people and has been raising funds to send young men and women to Bible college so that they can come back and invest into their people as pastors, teachers and evangelists! The message of Christ has brought hope, excitement and effort into this once dead community. This is a frequently visited mission site.

New Life Alliance Church members - an appropriate name for the church as this community now shows so much life since the church began!

As we walked down the streets in this poor community we saw several families with children. The church is giving this community hope, ambition and opportunity through Jesus!
