What is a portfolio you ask? It is the one thing I believe can make you stand out from the competition during the interview process. The portfolio idea I conceived while researching jobs on the web. I noticed that for architecture and art jobs they wanted a portfolio of the persons previous work. So why not for any other job market. If I want a management position show a proven track record of management capability. For the navy this is easy. I will tell you how I set up my portfolio. First I went and got my service record. I copied my page 4 showing my schools and grades and all my qualifications, etc. then I copied all my evaluations and awards. I took this and went to a Kinkos  and made multiple copies of those documents my BS degree transcript and my complete 4 page resume. I then took these and put them into presentation folders. So I have a cover page with my personal info on it. Then a table of contents followed by my resume, transcript, page 4 information, evaluations, and finally all my awards. I give this to the person giving me my interview and allow them to keep it. I have had tremendous success with this. In fact one hiring manager for a major utilities company asked if he could use this in a presentation he gives to companies and college students on preparing for job interviews.
