PROFESSIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE

NAVAL NUCLEAR PROTOTYPE TRAINING UNIT S8G Section 2, Ballston Spa, New York 1997-present

Ÿ         Engineering Training Assistant– Qualified as supervisor and staff instructor for nuclear prototype training platform. The ETA is responsible not only for the safe operation and maintenance of all prototype systems including mechanical, electrical, and reactor controls, but also for the training and timely qualification enlisted, officer, and civilian Lockheed Martin Employed production students assigned to my crew. I am currently a Master Training Specialist at the NPTU site.

Ÿ         Engineering Officer of the Watch – Qualified senior watchstander for an entire Naval nuclear prototype training platform consisting of a nuclear reactor plant and propulsion steam plant as found on a Trident ballistic missile submarine.  The EOOW is responsible for the entire operation of the multi-million dollar platform including personnel and reactor safety with emphasis on verbatim compliance.  Qualification involves several oral and written examinations requiring thorough plant knowledge and demonstration of proper watchstanding principles, supervisory skills, and system operations and interrelations. This qualification is normally for E-7 and above personnel assign to the prototype, but I was selected to qualified this watch as and E-6 with less then 7 years in the Navy due to demonstrated superior performance. 

 

LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE

NAVAL NUCLEAR PROTOTYPE TRAINING UNIT S8G Section 2, Ballston Spa, New York              5/97-Present

Ÿ         Plan and supervise multiple classes of production students in their final phase of training in the Naval Nuclear Power Program.

Ÿ         Plan and supervise the training and qualification of personnel assigned as staff operators to my section.

Ÿ         Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the S8G prototype during normal and casualty operations.

Ÿ         Responsible for plant operations during intensive research and development being conducted by Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory.

Ÿ         Responsible for plant operation during extended upkeep periods including intensive overhauls and routine shutdowns.

USS MARYLAND SSBN 738, Squadron 20 Kings Bay, Georgia                 2/93-5/97 

Ÿ         Engineering Department Training Assistant responsible for training and qualification of all nuclear trained personnel assigned.

Ÿ         Engineering Log room custodian responsible for maintaining all manuals associated with the reactor power plant.

Ÿ         Responsible for maintaining all power plant logs and paper work in an inspection ready condition.

Ÿ         Quality Assurance Supervisor responsible for all Quality Assurance work performed on the ship.

Ÿ         Responsible for the training and qualification of all Quality Assurance Inspectors on board.

Ÿ         Engineering Watch Supervisor leads the watch team in the spaces and reports to EOOW for all operations of the plant.

Ÿ         Selected to qualify EWS as an E-5 with less then 4 years in the Navy due to demonstrated leadership and performance.

Ÿ         Machinery Division Leading Petty Officer responsible for planning and execution of 4 arduous upkeep periods.

Ÿ         Supervised 2 dry dock upkeep periods as M Division LPO

Ÿ         Selected as M Division LPO as E-5 over 3 E-6 personnel assigned due to demonstrated leadership ability.

Ÿ         Thirteen week training program Nuclear Field MM “A” School  3.26 GPA
