History of the World Wide Web

In march of 1989 Tim Berners-Lee, who worked in a nuclear labatory, purposed the hypertext system. He thought it would be a better way of taking care of the many growing files on the Internet. In October of 1990 the new system was accepted by the internet community.

By January of 1993 there were 50 servers on the World Wide Web. The very first browser was named Nexus. At this time it was mostly limited to business men and scientists.

By October of 1993 there were already 500 Web servers and several other Web browsers in that short period of time. This was the birth of the WWW. Today there are more than 50,000,000 hosts on the Web.
